Every agent version in the estate and its age. Versions far behind current lose features silently rather than loudly.

Hosts consuming Full-Stack with no monitored service behind them, and hosts in infrastructure mode running application workloads.

Entities that stopped reporting

Hosts, process groups and services last seen days or weeks ago but never removed.

The tenant’s host count against the count you believe you have, where you can give us one.

Why it matters

A green dashboard answers "is everything we monitor healthy". It cannot answer "is everything we run monitored" — the things that are missing are, by construction, not on it.
Coverage is the domain that asks the second question. The most valuable single finding it produces is also the most expensive one in the whole audit: on the tenant in our case study, 140 hosts carrying Full-Stack consumption with no monitored service, worth $91,576 a year. Those hosts were monitored in the sense the invoice cares about and unmonitored in the sense an incident cares about.
The check does not assume that every such host is waste. Some are batch machines that genuinely run nothing between jobs. The finding lists them so you can decide which — and either reclaim the consumption or document why it stays.

Questions we get about this domain

What counts as "monitored" in these checks?

A host is treated as monitored when a process group or service that Dynatrace recognises is running on it and reporting. Consumption alone does not count, and neither does an agent that is installed but has not reported inside the window.

Can you audit coverage if some environments are not in Dynatrace at all?

Partly. The tenant can only be read for what it knows about. Where you can hand us a CMDB export or a cloud inventory, the reconciliation check compares the two and the gap becomes a finding; without one, the audit is honest about only being able to see inside the tenant.
